We often get carried away by the hustle and bustle of the city life and the pressures from work. There may be times when we need to get away from these stresses and explore new places and discover new cultures. Sometimes, it means finding treasures and hidden paradise away from the crowd.

Though the Eiffel Tower is majestic and romantic, it can get overrated. When you see it behind a flock of tourists wanting to have a glimpse and take a photo as you do, you lose the magic and beauty of the moment.

Planning a perfect holiday is not only about the itinerary, but it’s about finding places that can make every moment magical. Bali is an underrated travel destination that is truly magnificent and multifaceted. There are party places, such as Kuta and Seminyak. There are also vegan restaurants and yoga studios in Ubud. For the digital nomads, there is Canggu. Whether you travel for work, honeymoon, or simply to escape the city, “The Island of the Gods” will always have something to satisfy that wanderlust in you.

Bali is a true treasure haven of natural beauty and wonder. Located in the westernmost part of Lesser Sunda Islands, Bali has a mix of everything that nature lovers will love – from food-laden forests to dense jungles to picture-perfect rice fields to active volcanoes. This Indonesian island is the place to be when you want to enjoy nature at its best.

1. The Cliffs of Melasti Beach

Many people do not include Melasti Beach on their itinerary, mainly because it is stony and shallow, with pockets of sandy beaches. What they don’t know is that Melasti Beach, because of its fewer crowds and amenities, is raw and undiscovered. You can go in the cliffs and sit upon the array of stunning rock formations to experience a near-divine encounter.

2. Jatiluwih Rice Terraces (Central Mountains)

Experience a different side of Bali by visiting the Jatiluwih Rice Terraces. These gorgeous green rice fields are the perfect way for you to escape the stress city life brings and get yourself acquainted with Bali’s rural side. One good thing about this place is that you will not see many tourists wandering around. Going here is not as easy as going to other destinations in Bali. However, the extra time and effort will be worthwhile in the end. Jatiluwih Rice Terraces is also listed as UNESCO’s world heritage site.

3. Mount Batur

Standing at 1717m tall, Mount Batur is one of the world’s most active volcanos and still the most visited in Bali. Most tourists join the other travelers at Kintamani Village to marvel at this magnificent mountain. It is recommended to traverse to the isolated village of Pinggan if you want to see this bubbling volcano from a different viewpoint. You will be able to enjoy and experience the fiery grandeur of an active volcano from a meditative and solitary location.

4. Gitgit Waterfall, North Bali

Located at about ten kilometers south of Singaraja, Gitgit waterfall is one of Bali’s most impressive waterfalls. It is surrounded by lush and thick tropical forests and can be accessed by motorbike or car. There is no need for a guide since the waterfall is only 500 meters walking distance from the parking area. As you walk along the path, you will see clove trees and coffee plantations, and colorful stalls for vendors selling snacks and drinks.

5. The Sacred and Secret Canyon of Sukawati

Beji Guwang Hidden Canyon, located near Ubud, is a hidden and dangerous canyon in Sukawati that offers guests an extraordinary experience. The rock formations in this canyon are not only marvelous, but they also resemble various animals and people crying. Depending on the season and the time of the year, water levels may vary. As a precaution, use shoes that can grip to slippery rocks to avoid any accidents, especially if you dare to go deeper into the canyon.

Despite having many other places that offer memorable experiences, these five places in Bali will give you not only an unforgettable trip but also a time to escape the busy city life and big crowds.
